Data Collection
Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Applies to the BiteLock iOS app
This page is the plain-language companion to our Privacy Policy. It lists every category of data BiteLock touches, every permission it asks for, and every third party involved — so you can verify our "everything stays on your device" claim yourself.
Data categories, one by one
Contact info (name, email, phone)
No accounts exist. The optional first name you enter stays in the app's local storage and is never transmitted.
Health & fitness (meal history, eating pace, fullness answers)
Stored only on your iPhone to power your streaks and progress charts. Never uploaded anywhere.
Usage data & analytics
No analytics SDKs, no event tracking, no session recording. We genuinely do not know how you use the app.
Location
BiteLock never requests location access.
Photos, videos & camera output
PaceCam analyzes the live camera feed on-device to estimate eating pace. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded — ever.
Screen Time / app usage
Apps you block are represented by opaque Apple tokens. BiteLock never learns which apps you picked or how you use them; iOS enforces the block itself.
Purchase history
To unlock your subscription (and restore it after a reinstall), an anonymous app-generated identifier and your App Store receipt are validated via RevenueCat. Not linked to your identity — RevenueCat never receives your name, email, or Apple ID.
Identifiers for tracking or advertising
No ad identifiers, no fingerprinting, no cross-app tracking. BiteLock never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
Permissions BiteLock asks for
- Screen Time (Family Controls) — required for Meal Lock to block the apps you choose during a meal. Granted through Apple's own consent screen; revocable in Settings → Screen Time.
- Camera — optional, only if you use PaceCam. Analysis is entirely on-device.
- Notifications — optional, only if you enable the daily meal reminder. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device; no push servers are involved.
Declining any optional permission never locks you out of the rest of the app — Quiet Meal and Meal Lock work without the camera, and everything works without notifications.
Third parties involved
- Apple — processes subscription payments through your Apple ID and, if you opted in to share diagnostics with developers, provides us aggregated, anonymized statistics (like download counts) via App Store Connect.
- RevenueCat — validates subscription purchases using an anonymous identifier and your App Store receipt, on our behalf and for no other purpose. Their privacy policy.
- That's the complete list. No ad networks, no analytics providers, no data brokers, no social SDKs.
Where your data lives & how to delete it
- All app data lives in BiteLock's sandboxed local storage on your iPhone, protected by your device's encryption and passcode/Face ID.
- It may be included in your own iCloud or encrypted local device backup (controlled by you and Apple), and moves with you when you migrate to a new iPhone.
- Delete everything: Profile tab → "Reset all data", or simply delete the app.
