FAQ

Questions, answered

Is this a diet app?

No. There's no calorie counting, no food logging and no meal plans. BiteLock changes the conditions you eat under — it doesn't tell you what to eat.

Why does it need Screen Time permission?

Meal Lock uses Apple's Family Controls framework to block apps. That's the only supported way for an app to block other apps on iOS, and it's what lets BiteLock lock your chosen apps for the length of a meal and release them afterwards.

Does BiteLock see which apps I use?

Screen Time data stays inside Apple's framework on your device. BiteLock has no server, so there's nowhere for it to be sent. See the data collection breakdown.

Does PaceCam record video?

No. The camera analysis runs entirely on-device and in the moment. No video is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no email, and no server. Your data lives on your phone and goes away if you delete the app.

What are "autopilot calories protected"?

A gentle, non-medical estimate of the distracted overeating you likely avoided during a meal. It's a motivational signal, not a measurement or a medical figure, and it shouldn't be treated as one.

How do I cancel?

Through your App Store account settings, any time. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid renewal.

Is there an Android version?

Not currently. BiteLock relies on Apple's Screen Time framework, which has no direct Android equivalent.

What iOS version do I need?

iOS 18.0 or later.
